Why am I not always receiving a push notification from Skeddy about a newly booked ride?

You MAY NOT receive a push notification from Skeddy about a newly booked ride in case if you have already received a notification about it from the Lyft app, and have entered the Skeddy app within 5 min after the notification was received.

This is because Skeddy sends you push notifications within a maximum of 5 min after a ride is booked for you. So, if you were already notified by Lyft, there is no need for a duplicate notification.
